Description
What is ACE-031?
ACE-031 is an investigational protein therapeutic that builds muscle mass and increases strength by inhibiting molecules that bind to and signal through a cell surface receptor called the activin type IIB receptor (ActRIIB). ACE-031 is a recombinant fusion protein that is produced by joining a portion of a human ActRIIB receptor to a portion of a human antibody. This creates a free circulating version of ActRIIB that removes proteins like GDF-8 (myostatin) and other related molecules that limit muscle growth and strength.
The use of the ACE-031 peptide leads in a short time to muscle hyperplasia and hypertrophy. Strengthening bone tissue will be a big plus for athletes of heavy sports. It is worth noting that the kilograms gained on the ACE-031 course will be devoid of water and fat.
Role of ActRIIB signaling and muscle growth:
Muscle growth is regulated by proteins of the TGF-β protein superfamily, which serve as on or off switches for muscle production. Several molecules, including GDF-8, interact with the ActRIIB receptor and send a "off" signal to stop muscle production. In the absence of these “off” molecules that signal through the ActRIIB receptor, muscle mass increases dramatically.
