Although aloe vera has significant gastroprotective efficacy, some forms of aloe vera may have a laxative effect. The aloe vera ingredient GI-Encap comes from the inner fillet of the aloe vera plant, avoiding this effect.
Similarly, licorice root preparations that support the stomach and duodenum can cause high blood pressure in some people when taken in large amounts. Thus, glycyrrhizin has been removed from licorice in GI-Encap, which prevents high blood pressure.
GI-Encap also contains slippery elm bark (Ulmus rubra) and marshmallow root (Althea officinalis), both of which contain mucilaginous components that can soothe the digestive tract. To soothe esophageal irritation, GI-Encap can be removed from the capsule and mixed with warm water and drink it as tea.
