Description
N-acetyl-L-cysteine is the amino acid better known as NAC. It comes from cysteine and serves a variety of purposes in the body.
From a chemical point of view, NAC is the result of combining the free form amino acid L-cysteine with an acetyl group. The resulting amino acid is used by the body to produce glutathione. For most healthy adults, a balanced diet of selenium-enriched foods will provide adequate selenium levels and therefore healthy glutathione levels.
NAC (N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine) is a powerful amino acid that increases glutathione levels (to flush out toxins from the liver). In addition to supporting the respiratory system, the protective effect of the drug for the kidneys is known.
