Description
SR9011 and SR9009 are selective synthetic REV-ERBα intracellular nuclear receptor agonists. The REV-ERBα receptor is a key regulatory component of the body's circadian rhythms. Many aspects of the functioning of the human body depend on the time of day and are controlled by circadian rhythms. Circadian rhythms influence metabolism in the liver, skeletal muscle and adipose tissue, providing energy and homeostasis at the cellular level. The metabolic rate also depends on the time of day, for example: during the day it reaches a maximum, and at night it reaches a minimum. Modulation of REV-ERBα activity by selective synthetic agonists alters the expression of genes involved in lipid and glucose metabolism and therefore plays an important role in maintaining energy homeostasis. The action of SR9011 and SR9009 leads to a decrease in lipogenesis, the synthesis of cholesterol and bile acids in the liver, an increase in the content of mitochondria, the oxidation of glucose and fatty acids in skeletal muscles, an increase in oxygen consumption and a decrease in the accumulation of lipids in the adipose tissue of the body.
