Thorne's Arabinex® is composed of larch arabinogalactans, a polysaccharide derived from Larix occidentalis, a western larch. This highly soluble, mild tasting powder mixes easily with water or juice, making it an ideal supplement for adults and children alike.
Larch arabinogalactans have important immune-boosting properties and are an excellent source of fiber. As a prebiotic, Arabinex may increase the beneficial bacteria in the colon to support gut health.
Its use can also increase the content of short chain fatty acids, mainly butyric acid. the main fuel for colonocytes is colon cells.
Butyric acid is produced in the colon from the fermentation of fiber, such as the fiber provided by arabinogalactans. High levels of butyrate in the colon help to ensure a healthy colon environment.
