Taurine is a conditionally essential amino acid that is not used for protein synthesis but is mostly found free in most tissues, especially the nervous system. It functions in tissues by stabilizing cell membranes and assisting in the transport of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in and out of cells. Taurine helps generate and regulate nerve impulses and maintains normal fluid balance, it is also used by the body in the visual pathways and in the brain and nervous system, where it works alongside glycine and GABA as a neurotransmitter. This product contains twice the amount of taurine (1000 mg) as the regular formulation (500 mg).
